Review: Fighting with the Infuriating Prince

Fighting with the Infuriating Prince Fighting with the Infuriating Prince by Elizabeth Lennox
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Fighting with the Infuriating Prince (War, Love, & Harmony Series, #1) by Elizabeth Lennox

I have enjoyed Miss Lennox's short romances before, but this one was quite disappointing.

CONTAINS SPOILERS

First off, the male protagonist, Prince Tasir, was not very romantic. He was more of a bully than a romantic hero. I completely understand the concept of dominating males and how they are romantic ( hello Gideon Cross), but Tasir was just downright rude, offensive and completely annoying. More often than not, it felt like she was being forced to have sex. He would have gotten some point if he had atleast changed something in his attitude at the end of the book, but nope. Nada.

I actually liked Princess Jalayla, she was a strong, fiery, independent woman with good morals and all for eradication of poverty in her country. But Miss Lennox completely ruined it by making her look like an trembling virgin who does his bidding in the blink of an eye.

And the end was the most disappointing. I would have overlooked everything else if not for the ending. Characters are meant to be imperfect.

But I expected much more to reluctance on her part and something redeemable on his. But it was all just rushed and was oven in like two pages and just abruptly pushed you to the second book.

Like I said it was not one of Miss Lennox's best novellas.

Review: Dark Lover

Dark Lover Dark Lover by J.R. Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dark Lover

This Review will probably contain spoilers, Readers BEWARE!!

This is the first book I have read of J R Ward. And in my opinion it was a pretty good book.

This is a paranormal romance novel that brushes the erotic category, but not quite much. Its the first book of The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series, which is basically about 5 warrior vampires who fight against the 'lessers' who are the vampire-killing-soulless species and how they find their 'shellan (mates).

This book is about Wrath who is the blind, short-tempered vampire community king and Beth, a small-time reporter, who later comes to know she is a half-vampire and her father was one of the brothers of the brotherhood before he was disintegrated by a bomb and how they come to trust and fall in love.

It had all the right combinations of hot guys, murder, mystery, romance and some sexy time between the protagonists.

It had the hot vampire Wrath with attitude problems, the sexy half-vampire Beth with her sassy attitude, the annoying 'lessers' who take up too much unnecessary space in the book, and the brotherhood of mismatched warriors who are walking disasters individually, but are pretty good as a team. And how Wrath and Beth bond over her 'transition' from human to vampire

Awesome!!

The book has a lot of side stories which are pretty interesting and give more substance to the book. Miss Ward did a brilliant job in developing the characters, with their proper back-stories and gave a lot of depth to all her characters.

It was written with all of the characters POVs which proved to be very interesting and informative. Miss Ward covered all her bases.

The only thing I really found annoying in this book was that, there was too much scenes of how the 'lesser leader' was plotting the the total annihilation of the brotherhood. I mean, this stuff came in the way of some pretty heady scenes. (view spoiler)

Apart from this, the book was good, and it's totally worth a read.

Review: The Witness

The Witness The Witness by Nora Roberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Witness by Nora Roberts

CAUTION: Contains Spoilers

I would give this book an absolute 10, if that was possible. It was that amazing. It's one of those books that would make you reminiscent about it long into the night even after the satisfactory ending.

Nora Roberts, the author, is one of the best out there. I've read a few of her books and I love all of them. But this one is just special.

You just have to love Abigail, with her geeky, cautious intelligence and the dog named Bert.

And Brooks is just kickass. Accepted, I expected him to be a much more strong, alpha-male-ish character, but in the end, I had no regrets. He just balances her perfectly.

All the characters are very well built, with precise roles and substance.

If you are fan of romantic thrillers, then Nora Roberts is the best author for you...

Spoiler Alert:

This book is about Liz, an amazingly gifted, straight to Harvard 16 year old kinda girl with extraordinary IQ and photographic memory, living with her control-freak mother, goes into rebellion-teenager mode one very fine weekend. She changes her hair, goes shopping, clubbing, drinking and later into the night witnesses her friend's murder by the Russian Mafia.

She goes into witness protection program. But, the murderers want her dead and chase her and kill the agents taking care of her, forcing her to run.

Now twelve years later, we see Liz as Abigail, who lives the life of a nomad going from city to city, town to town, trying to keep a low profile everywhere. She poses as a freelance programmer and comes to the town of Ozarks.

Her mysterious persona and guarded gait, piques Police Chief Brooks interest. I mean, who doesn't like a girl who knows to handle many kinds of guns and has her dog trained to understand many languages?

With his refusal to leave her alone and after one too may pies, their interest in each other, soon turns into a passionate love affair. One leaves both of them breathless. Her logical brain shuts down as her heart rams with his and his need to protect her from whatever it is that hurts her makes him throw caution to the air.

Will Brooks be the one to ground her?

Will she give her carefully planned life for him? Will she ever get over that one night that completely changer her life?

This is one book of Nora Roberts you just can't miss.

Scarred For Life...

What happens after college actually starts? And what would you expect on the first few days of college? Well, you would expect a lot of new people make new friends, start new think and such. And then it is very natural for us to look for hot dudes and gals…hey, like I said it is only natural. Especially when you have been studying in an all girls facility. Yep, that’s right, it’s Susan.

The poor girl has no clue… Well, as a matter of fact neither did I, that boys would be so super horny…

Why you ask? Well let me tell you short a story..

Life was going good for Susan. There was this really super hot dude in her class and moreover, he was unashamedly flirting with our innocent beauty.  The flirting went as far as Mr. Hot saving a seat for her on the second day of their class together and him giving his number in a not-so-subtle way.

If it were any other girl, she would have flirted right back or slapped him right across his face, but, our dearest Susannah, had no clue and had no idea what to do. So, when he asked for her number, she panicked and said she did not remember and ran off.

I know, that’s just sad. Her face was a picture of mortal embarrassment when she recited what had happened.  So, the next day, she put on her brave face and faced him and bravely gave him her number. You go girl, right. That’s what I thought too.

That is until on the fifth day…. What happened you ask?

Well, after exchanging a few innocent phone calls, he asked Susan for Sex!!

Yep, I know and your eyes don’t deceive you ladies. He did. The world is just hopeless.

And that’s how I found sweet, innocent little Susan moping on her bed, scarred for life.

Now tell me, my dear readers, how many of you think that guys are d-bags?

High Heels Ain't Always A Bitch.

As I said before, my room can accommodate 4 people and as of now, only Susan and I were there. We were still waiting for the other two.

It’s a nerve-wrecking thing to wait for the people you are going to share a small room for one whole year. You start imaging all sorts of weird characters you would get as roommates. The anticipation all but killed me until the day she actually arrived.

For the first couple of days, it was just me and Susan, and unfortunately for her, her college started way before mine did. So, while she went to college, I would spend my time reading, writing, and basically tried to kill my time anyway I can.

The day I met ‘her’, was outside the lobby of the ladies hostel. I noticed a girl wearing killer pumps. Let me clarify something, I don’t wear heels. Never, ever. But, those heels made me want to wear them. If you were imagining it to some really royal and sequined shoes, it wasn’t. They were simple basic black with beige heels. Well, what can I say, I am a simple person.

Anyway, I reined in my envy and went back to the room, only to find the new suitcases. What the hell!! We have our third roommate. Awesome. I immediately texted Susan.

And then the wait started. If you felt the anticipation before was dramatic, then this would send you straight to hell. I waited and waited and waited and finally, she came in. And guess what… yeah, you guessed it, it was Miss. Killer heels.

Shrexis (Miss. Killer heels) was actually a very nice girl. She was very down to earth and had absolutely gorgeous hair. And when I mentioned the heels to her, she said she loved them and couldn’t think of parting with them and had to bring them with her, even if she might never have the opportunity to wear them here.

When, Susan came to the room that evening, I was asleep, so I am not really sure about their first meet. But I know that they immediately became very close.

Two down and one more to go. Hope she is as good as the other two.
